Position Description:

The Dean of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program. The person in this role must facilitate responsiveness by the program, to the needs of the community and the health care system, as well as, foster within the program, an organizational culture that supports collegiality, personal well-being, and professional development of students, faculty, and staff. The Dean also serves as the representative of the program to the College/Campus administration, regulatory and accreditation bodies, Nursing Division, the local advisory committee, and to other internal and external constituencies.

Requirements

• Current active unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or APRN in state of Virginia College/campus or multistate privilege to practice nursing in state.
• MSN or Doctoral degree in nursing or health related major.
• At least five years practice experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least two as a faculty member in a professional nursing education program.
• Minimum of one (1) year successful experience in an administrative or management role.
• Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
• Excellent written, oral communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to serve as a positive, supportive, and enthusiastic role model.
• Successful completion of criminal background check, drug screening, and CPR and HIPAA certification.
