Job Description
My client is a rapidly growing specialty contractor focused on commercial metal stud framing, drywall systems, acoustical ceilings, and sound-attenuation solutions . Built on craftsmanship, innovation, and long-term relationships, they’ve developed a strong reputation for quality and professionalism.
They are now seeking a Drywall Estimator who can take ownership of estimating across complex commercial, institutional, and multi-family projects - and who is eager to grow quickly into a senior leadership or executive-level position within the next year.
This is a standout opportunity for a driven professional ready to combine technical estimating skill with business strategy and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine drywall and metal framing scope.
- Perform precise material and labor take-offs for gypsum board, metal studs, joint finishes, fire-rated partitions, and acoustical systems.
- Develop detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, overhead, and contingencies.
- Prepare formal, professional bid proposals outlining inclusions, exclusions, and value-engineering options.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and field teams to ensure estimates align with productivity and schedule expectations.
- Participate in bid reviews and strategic discussions on pricing, risk, and profitability.
- Maintain accurate estimating databases — tracking productivity rates, material pricing, and vendor/subcontractor quotes.
- Identify and propose alternative systems or materials that optimize cost, quality, and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, bonding and insurance requirements, and labor classifications.
- Support project hand-off and post-bid analysis to continuously improve estimating processes and accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3–5+ years of drywall and/or metal framing estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Strong technical knowledge of drywall systems, acoustical assemblies, finishing standards, and fire-rated partitions.
- Proficient in OST (On-Screen Takeoff) or similar digital estimating software, plus strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical ability with sharp attention to detail.
- Confident in reading drawings/specs and communicating findings clearly to senior management.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple bids simultaneously.
- Strong communication and presentation skills — able to explain scope logic and cost breakdowns effectively.
- Understanding of local labor markets, subcontractor relationships, and regional material trends.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
- Ambitious and self-driven, with clear goals for growth into senior or executive estimating leadership.
What’s on Offer:
- Salary range: $90K–$160K, depending on experience.
- Rapid progression into a senior or executive-level role (Vice President or Chief Estimator track).
- Opportunity to shape the estimating strategy of a fast-growing specialty contractor.
- Collaborative, growth-oriented environment that rewards initiative and innovation.
- Exposure to diverse and high-profile commercial and institutional projects.
