Job Description

Express Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity with a large food & beverage manufacturer in Mebane, NC.

This is a short-term position (with some potential to transition into a longer term role), part-time 24 hours per week, with a flexible work schedule (3, 4 or 5 days per week, to likely include Monday & Friday) on-site. The person in this role will be the primary payroll person for over 200 hourly employees. Compensation for the role is likely $28-$30/hour.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Process payroll for employees accurately and on time using their payroll software with a Biweekly pay period
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Assist with the facilitation of the onboarding process for new hires, including payroll orientation and the timely closing of employee files at termination
  • Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy for both exempt and non exempt employees
  • Calculate and process adjustments, time off, and other payroll-related payments
  • Generate payroll reports as needed for management and regulatory purposes including but not limited to; finance, benefit deductions, attendance reports, etc.
  • Act as a primary contact for inquiries related to payroll and PTO accrual
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and reach out to team members to complete timesheets
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting
  • Assist with payroll-related projects and initiatives as needed

We're seeking candidates with a Bachelor's in Accounting or related field and prior experience with:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role or related field
  • Proficiency in working with payroll software like ADP
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
